And that loathing I felt could be cast aside if it meant spending time with Jakie.
"So...How's this mission of yours coming along?" I asked as we stepped on to the elevator.
Sighing out of sheer frustration, Jakie replied, "Well, as you have probably already have seen, we have got them cornered. I figure they'll either have to surrender or prepare to be boarded."
"Do you honestly think they'll do either?" I seriously posed to him.
Jakie gave me a confused look. "They're cornered, Jesse. What other option do they have? There's no place for them to run to now."
"Oh yes there is, my love. You underestimate their options," I corrected as the elevator came to a stop on Level Ten and the doors slid apart. These were the Officer Quarters. The V.I.P. rooms were on the deck below us.
The corridors that we stepped out into were steel blue and narrow with dark red carpets covering the floor. They were moderately lit. Easy on the eyes, unlike some vessels who insist on half blinding their crew with harsh lights. Like the space traveler I had just come from called Aero.
We stepped out of the small compartment and began to make our way to the C.O. quarters.
"They're not dumb enough, nor brave enough, to attempt the Zone, Jesse. They're acutely aware of the fact that all who have gone in there have never have come back."
"But, Jakie, that's still an option open to them. An option their commander maybe willing to take," I insisted.

Stealing another glance around at her, I found her looking directly back at me. Her look was full of bitter warnings. Turning away from her, I drew the conclusion that this wasn't another Ollie I was dealing with here. This female, that stood precariously close behind me, was far from the shy, meek and innocent Ollie Vox I had come to know and adore. No, Chaka Vox was truculent in character. Turbulent and quarrelsome by nature. Headstrong and forthright. This female was uninhibited. I began to pray here and now for my safety and the safety of my unborn child. Not truly capturing what this female was actually capable of doing to me. I began to get nervous with her standing directly behind me and wishing the elevator doors would open soon. Thanking the heaven's above that she carried no weapons.

The elevator doors, as if hearing my wishes, opened and I hurriedly stepped out onto the medical deck ahead of Jakie. At this time I had no desire to be alone. Not after the look I had received from Jakie's sister. I was determined to stay in front of my beau and keep him in between me and that virago sister of his.

The dweebs I call my family would take full advantage of that debt, and raise it to a higher status if given half the chance. So I chose to keep the ungrateful act going just so I couldn't be taken advantage of. Even against the urge to break down in my brother's arms and bawl like a baby in my thankfulness to him. As much as I hated the fact that Jakie was going to blow Sylis out of existence, right along with a few other friends of mine, I still needed my big brother to tell me that everything was going to be fine. Like he always had in the past when things got rough with Kemp Vox. Jakie had been my protector from that evil, vile, treacherous man for so long, I hadn't any clue as to how I should handle my situation when I found myself a captive of my own cousin. That was something Jakie always took care of.

I did know one thing…As soon as I was done with this doctor's appointment, and that stupid, unnecessary debriefing, I was going to my assigned quarters. Once there, I was going to lay myself gently on the bed and writhe from the pain in my lower abdomen. Thank God Jakie didn't know how many times I just wanted to double over and cry out from the stinging, merciless agony that would rip through my stomach in large waves. That would have made him overly concerned and ever that much more over-bearing. His protective instincts ran high with me and even though his future wife, Jesse Vors, would never come to understand his need to keep me out of harms way, this need would continue to spill over into our adult life. It was second nature for Jakie to be possessive and protective of me. Something he had done for a good portion of his life.

Everyone could tell Chaka's belligerence was intentional. I could tell there was a perverse enjoyment being had in her uncooperative ways. More than likely it was being done to see what reaction she would get from her brother when he didn't get what he wanted. There were a couple of times that Chaka had her big brother on the verge of wanting to hurt her. She, all the while, thinking his agony was humorous. Man, we should have just listened to her and let her go back to her room.

But for whatever the reason there was for her to act this way, we were all getting sick of her games. Our patience was wearing thin and we also knew she was aware of this. This knowledge seemed to only make her fight all the harder. Bound and determined she was to keep any type of info of her imprisonment from us. She couldn't have made her intentions anymore clear.

"I only want to know how you managed to navigate through the Zone?" Alban answered in his defense. Alban, (who was sitting right straight across from Chaka at the table) his eyes all but leering at her. He had posed this question a few times before without a satisfactory answer and seemed firmly set on getting one.

"So I'm to assume, Alban, what you are truly after is how we made it through the Zone without blowing up into a gabillion pieces right? Is that what you are wondering?" she asked without moving her eyes from Alban's own seething green ones. Her hands were placed flat on the table as her bent arms were rigid in preparation to shove her up on to the table top if necessary. Her lips were pulled up into a half smile. Her whole demeanor reeking of agitation.

"That's exactly what I am trying to get at," Alban answered her rigidly. If Chaka didn't watch it, she was going to push the wrong button with Alban, causing him to explode in a murderous rage. And the rest of us would be required to hold him back from killing her.

A devilish grin spread across Chaka's face as the defiant stare continued. She knew exactly how she was going to respond. As did the rest of us.

"Blessed I guess."

Jakie let out another animalistic bellow of frustration and cried into the air, "Why, God?! Why is she being so difficult with us?!"

I could remember my eyes falling on the hand that was groping about the table at the very moment her finger tips brush across the knife that Kyber had used to cut the main course with. Chaka quickly recognized the object by touch and wrapped her fingers around it. I felt my heart skip a beat when she pulled it off the table. It wasn't a large knife, but it proved large enough to do mortal damage to Kyber. What amazed me, (even to this day it still astounds me), was how fast and easily she swapped the knife from hand to the other. Her right hand, was unsuccessfully trying to free the whole of her body from Kyber's grasp. The exchange of the knife flowed so quickly, so naturally, my mind couldn't register that the act had been done until it was over with. I sat there in my seat off to Bella's left and watched in awe and utter fascination as the hand that now held the knife raised up and was brought down aggressively. Blade pointing inward. Chaka plunged the knife into Kyber's back, sinking the blade in up to it's handle. Not once, but twice she did this. Both attempts striking vital organs. Kyber had little time to respond. He let go with a howl of pain just before she plunged the knife in a second time. As soon as Chaka was released from his grip, she yanked the knife from his back again and what happened next was so vicious, it had been permanently imprinted on my memory.

With Chaka free of Kyber's grip, and the knife free from Kyber's back, she swung around with dizzying speed and plunged the knife straight into the right side of Kyber's throat. If you ask Chaka to recount the events, she'll tell you she only recalls lashing out and slicing Kyber's throat. But the reality of it was, she damn near succeeded in cutting his whole head off with that knife. With the knife stuck in clear to the handle, Chaka drew the knife around like someone gutting an animal. She didn't just slash him like she thought she had. She'd actually cut into him. Kyber's wound was gapping and mortal. Severing both jugular veins and slicing the spinal cord as well. He was dead well before he hit the floor.

Never in my life had I seen such hellish ferocity come from a female. The look of her eyes was disturbing when she withdrew the knife from Kyber's neck. Her blue eyes seemed to glow with unabated hate and insanity. It was a look I had never seen on Chaka before. Instantly, I found her leer of wrath arousing. Standing there with the wild look of temporary madness in those blazing blue eyes of hers, her hair wet with sweat, the knife dripping with the fresh blood from Kyber, Chaka was far too gorgeous for words. A fashion I had never before looked at her in. The hysterical, murderous hate she was feeling showed on her face, causing her eyes to shine with a beautiful brilliance. Whether or not she was in full control of all her capacities at the time, (I'm inclined to believe she wasn't), Chaka was striking standing there all splattered with Kyber's freshly drawn blood. Her small breasts rising and falling rapidly from the effort it had taken to take this man down.

Over the quarreling voices in my head, someone calling my name came filtering through, creating an immediate concern.

Looking up, I saw Ollie waving at me and beckoning me with her hand to come on over. It felt like the bottom of my stomach had dropped out when I realized that I was now at the point of no return. Chaka's impressive blue eyes had set themselves on me, a stoic look on her face. Swinging her legs over the side of the lounger, she stood up and approached me. Giving me no other recourse but to meet with her.

Gracefully, she strolled over to me. A smile had set itself on her lips as she never took those blue eyes from my own eyes. She was breathtaking and intimidating all at the same time. I didn't know at the time if I should hate her for being so stunning, enamored with her, or if I should be fearful and take to flight. I did know that I needed to keep a level head, and not wig out when she spoke to me.

"Well, I'll be…Hello there, Fernando Delby," she pleasantly greeted me as she came to stand before. Her body just a little taller than mine. Me being about the same height as an average sized Blanc female.

Okay, Fernando, stay calm, I thought psyching myself up.

"Hello to you too, your highness," I answered respectfully, making my first slip up with her.

"Please, Fernando, let's use first names here alright? I really hate that title," she responded, wrinkling up her nose in protest.

"So what's that suppose to mean, Chaka?" I urged out of my own sheer curiosity. I had yet to form an opinion about Jakie's sister. I had come to find out she was a kind enough soul. Even going as far as to apologize for kicking me in the face aboard the shuttle. A couple of kicks whose marks were still noticeable on my face. She didn't make any excuses, simply stated that she needed to do what needed to be done to protect the lives her friends. I guess I could respect her for that. It was something I would do if I was the one in her position at the time. I appreciated a female who was willing to do battle no matter how bad the odds were stacked against her. And Chaka going against me…Yeah, I would say the odds weren't in her favor. She was nothing like her sister Ollie. Ollie seemed to be scared of the sound of the air coming through the vents. It pained me dearly to be around that girl. Not Chaka though. She appeared to be afraid of nothing or nobody. And yet, I wasn't so sure I could trust my cousin. She seemed far too crafty and bold, not to mention wise beyond her years, for me to feel totally comfortable around her. Every time I was in the presence of her, I felt there was something unnatural about her. Or was it supernatural? There definitely was something different about her that I couldn't articulate at this point. I just knew she wasn't normal. There was something there that no one else seemed to see but me. Now she knew something about Su-dio that we didn't. Rest assured, we weren't going to pull it out of her either. The girl was as thick and as stubborn as they came. Which shouldn't come as any surprise to me. She was Jakie's sister. With her wisdom, I was curious to see how she was going to handle this round of interrogations.

I, smiling at his reaction, recalled the first time I had seen this behemoth in person and how it made me feel. Nothing in this universe could compare to it as of yet. Even now, some of the technology aboard the Blue Chariot was still years ahead of where we were now. The ship seemed to have a personality of it's own. It exuded power and intelligence to all who saw it and seemed to give off the air of confidence. Like it knew it was the only one of it's kind in the universe and would go unrivaled for centuries to come. Once you were aboard the Blue Chariot, the Blue Chariot was in your blood. The place gained a hold on you and whenever you heard there was going to be a meeting, you dropped everything you were doing, no matter how important it was at the time, and came in a hurry as we did. Many a soul have killed themselves over being ejected from the Blue Chariot. The agony of not being able to ever board this massive structure again was far too great for them to bear and henceforth did themselves in. Once you were rejected from the Blue Chariot, you were now rejected from society as a whole. The mystical draw to this place was a strong force. The Blue Chariot being a beautiful enchantress. It's magnetism was able to bring beings in from all walks of life: Merchants. Smugglers. Commoners, Royals. They came from every category you could think of. Beings of prominence were a common sight here mingling about with those who were not as blessed as they were. All in attendance were treated as equals no matter what status they held in the rest of the universe.

Good Gawd Almighty! my mind exclaimed when we broke through the blue cloud, and cloaked perfectly inside was the Blue Chariot in all its grandeur.

Any mental pictures I may have had before seeing it were immediately blown away. Jakie had given me the dimensions of the vessel some time ago, but being the type of person I was, measurements were lost on me. I hadn't the slightest inclination that it would be of these immense proportions and so beautiful in appearance. I was so awestruck by the sight before me, that the Tybitian accent I tried so hard to suppress in speech, came filtering in through my thoughts. I was thankful that Chaka wasn't present. I would never hear the end of it. She being the first to always point out my accent, and then to add insult to injury, she'd start mimicking me until I was on the verge of wringing her neck just to get her to shut up.

I couldn't even begin to describe the behemoth I was gazing upon aside from the fact that it was one of the most beautiful castle-like structures I had ever seen. The vehicle being so large we could only see a minute portion of it on the viewing monitor of the Star. Next to it, the Midnite Star looked like a micro-toy. I had seem some pretty large mortal-made structures in my time but nothing that could compare to this titan. The Blue Chariot was impressive to say the least. My imagination began to take over, and I could easily envision myself getting lost in there for a long periods of time without the hopes of being found. The thoughts of entering the Blue Chariot, proved rather intimidating.
