Chaka Annyah Donna-Vox
(first and middle name pronounced: Shah-kah Ahn-nyah)    top
The center character of this story is Chaka Annyah Donna-Vox. Her story involves hardships that deal with being illegitimate, odd-looking, nonconforming and tenacious. She will go through situations that would drive a normal woman to the brink of insanity, but only proves to make her stronger and wiser. Her life always seems to affect the lives of her friends directly or indirectly. Her destiny causes changes in them they never realized could happen. The ripples that are caused from the life experiences that happen to this wonderfully strong lady will cause strange and interesting situations to everyone whose lives she touches. She is extraordinarily loyal to all that she considers her friend, going as far as to try to remove all trouble that may inflict the lives of her loved ones. Rebelliousness is her trademark, so it's always best to be on guard when she's around.
Character Background:
The illegitimate daughter of Kemp Vox and Yvette Donna.
Kemp Vox comes from a very prominent family on the large planet of Rytron. Eventually he manages to catch the eye of the heiress to the Rytronian throne, Re-carra Burry and marries her. Kemp Vox is a less than honorable, less than faithful man. Extremely intelligent, Kemp Vox uses his new status in the universe to exploit his criminal tendencies, taking his son and eldest child, Jakie, with him into the oceans of space for months, sometimes years, at a time.
Yvette Donna also comes from royalty. Her mother is of true royal blood. Her family, the Donna's, have reigned over Orian (pronounced Or-ee-an) for many centuries. That is until a coup from the Cliff Dwellers manages to overthrow the family, killing off all but Dixen Donna, the youngest daughter of the reigning couple. The coup was led by a man known as Silver-eye Millie, whose eyes appear to be blue silver.
The planet now has new rulers. Silver-eye Millie has one son he named Gengah. Dixen is forced into a marriage with Gengah. It doesn't take Dixen long to become fond of Gengah. Unlike his ruthless sire, Gengah is a compassionate man capable of love and understanding. Within the first year of their marriage, Dixen gives birth to a daughter. They name her Jasmine after Gengah's beloved mother who had died shortly after Gengah was born.
At the time of the takeover, Dixen was only 18 Orianian years of age. As the years passed, Dixen's beauty grew, making it difficult for Silver-eye to keep restraint of himself. Eventually, he allows his lusts for Dixen to take over and Dixen finds herself pregnant with Silver-eye's child. Dixen speaks nothing of the affair to her husband for fear of what might befall her at the hands of Silver-eye. Silver-eye would have her put to death if she dared speak. So she carries the child of her husband's sire under the false front of Gengah's child.
Dixen gives birth to yet another girl and this time names her Yvette. It was at the tender of age of 12 when Yvette stumbles upon her true identity. She confronts her mother about it and her mother confirms her fears. That very night Yvette flees the Forbidden Castle and sets out on her own into the wiles of the streets of Dem City, Capital of Orian. Her family making many vain attempts to bring her back home.
There on the streets, Yvette learns quickly their ways and does what she has to do in order to survive. Eventually turning to prostitution in order to feed and clothe herself all the while keeping her true identity a secret by cutting her long blond locks of hair that would identify her as being a royal. And this is where she encounters Kemp Vox and one of Kemp Vox's perversions. Kemp Vox is a pedophile. He immediately sets his sights on Yvette. She's young and very beautiful. This is her first and only client as her life as a prostitute. He makes her his whore for the duration of his stay on Orian. Yvette is 13 at the time and is only 8 years older than Kemp's son Jakie. Yvette is fully aware of who this Kemp Vox is and continues to keep silent about her identity for fear that Kemp would go to her family and tell them of her whereabouts.
Kemp Vox stays on Orian for a couple of months and it's during these couple of months that Yvette comes up pregnant. Of course, Kemp Vox asks her if it's his or not. To which she replies she hasn't been with anyone else but him. Kemp demands a genetics test done anyway and sure enough the fetus is his and it's a girl. Yvette, out of the blue, comes up with the name Chaka Annyah (Chaka is pronounced, Shaka) which in the old language of the Orianian's means "The Restless Angel". Kemp Vox likes it and they agree upon naming the child that.
In a few short months, Yvette gives birth to this girl and for the first two years raises Chaka, whose full name is Chaka Annyah Donna-Vox. Kemp Vox has no idea that that Yvette put the 'Donna' on the child's name and this was her big mistake.
Through Yvette's street wise contacts, she finds out that Gengah Millie is well aware of her child's existence and that her sister Jasmine has put a bounty out on Chaka. Seems that because Chaka exists, she poses a serious threat to Jasmine's children and their inheritance. Yvette, fearing for her child's safety, contacts Kemp Vox and let's him in on her little secret of being a royal. Immediately he flies to Orian and picks up this child of his. And from then on, Kemp Vox brutally and resentfully takes care of Chaka, while Jakie Vox does everything he can to protect his sister from Kemp Vox's spite for this new charge of his. During Chaka's growing up years, Kemp Vox intentionally puts her into dangerous situations. Unwittingly, he was training Chaka the skills she would need to survive. Not realizing he was laying the foundation for his own demise at the hands of his own child.
Rozana Lee Delphi
(first and last name pronounced: Roz-anna Lee Del-fee)    top
Cousin to Chaka through her mother, Rozana Lee Delphi's story revolves around the hardships of sacrifice, loyalty, betrayal and duty. In her life she will learn the true meaning of family and friendship. As heir to one of the most powerful thrones in the Funziee Universe, she finds that other people (especially her mother) are constantly deciding what is best for her, whether it truly is or not. She often finds love to be a burden, but once true love is placed at her feet, she comes to understand how important it is. Fiercely loyal and true to her position in life, Rozana yearns to belong to a family that knows the meaning of friendship, and she'll do whatever she can to obtain that role. And heaven forbid, don't ask her to put a man above her family and friends, she won't do it!
Su-dio Anne Fenton
(first name pronounced: Sue-dio)    top
Another loyal cousin to our center character is Su-dio Anne Fenton. Raised basically by her Uncle, she's closer than a sister is to Chaka. Hers is a story of long-suffering, family discord and a struggle for acceptance and love. This woman goes through some pretty tough times-From an addict of a mother who doesn't except her and abused her at a young age, to a father who is noncommittal and doesn't want to get involved-it's a wonder Su-dio doesn't suffer from some type of psychosis. And finding the love of your life is supposed to bring you great joy, right? But for this lady, it adds a huge measure of misery to her life, as her lover is both irresponsible, noncommittal and alien. But she's willing to bear all this for the peace and security of a family she wants to start. Su-dio is strong, beautiful and determined.
Character Background:
Eldest daughter of Lenny Fenton, king the throne of Tavens and Lena Vox, sister of Kemp Vox, from the planet Rytron.
Lena met Lenny at a social event held on Rytron. All foreign dignitaries were invited. Lenny and Lena marry shortly after their meeting but unbeknown to Lenny, Lena wasn't the kind, docile, gentle creature he perceived her to be. Lena, to her husband, was everything a dutiful wife should be. But their first child arrived, Lena changed. Like Kemp Vox, her eldest brother, Lena wanted her first born to be male but instead, she got a female. From day one Lena hated this child. Lenny though, adored her and named her Su-dio which means, "sweet surprise" in Tavonian. Lena thought she everything but a 'sweet surprise'. If it hadn't been for her husband, she would've ruthlessly killed the child upon birth. And even still, her love for her husband was not enough to keep her from being abusive to Su-dio.
One day, when Su-dio was about five years of age, Lenny caught Lena mercilessly and repeatedly striking Su-dio. Lena was having one of her drunken fits. Another characteristic that Lenny wasn't aware of when her married her. Her drinking habits.
This broke Lenny's heart seeing his much loved wife beating on his adored daughter this way. He now had to make a very hard decision. He put in a plea to his own family to take Su-dio and care for her. But no one in his family would. Lenny couldn't send the wife he loved so dearly away so he contacted Lena's family to take Su-dio and care for her. And there was a response this time.
Kemp Vox offered to take her, stating that he not only could use another hand about his ship but she could also give his restless daughter, Chaka, some much needed company. Lenny thought this would be an excellent idea citing that Su-dio could use the warrior and survival training that Su-dio's uncle could provide for his daughter. So at this tender age of five, Su-dio is taken away into space with Kemp Vox. Surprisingly, this perverse man never lays a wicked hand on Su-dio. Kemp Vox's motives were true. Su-dio and Chaka form a tight bond with each other that lasts a lifetime.
Little to Lenny's knowledge, when Su-dio does come back to Tavens at the age of 19, she would be far more than capable to handle her abusive drunk mother.
Married to Chaka's brother Jakie, Jesse Beth Vors is not the woman his family expected to have in that role. But there couldn't be a better choice for him. Jesse's story is one of learning, obsessive nature, infidelity and loss. Swept into a life style that's totally foreign to her, she quickly learns that speaking ones mind does come with a price, and being right isn't always necessary. Her life lessons will be learned by personal experience and not always easily either. But in the end, Jesse will come through every trial with dignity and strength because of a grace that is natural born and not taught.
Character Background:
The illegitimate daughter of Dirk Vors and Jennifer Kezworth.
Dirk Vors is the eldest son of Raymond and Bonnie Vors, Emperor and Empress of the desert planet Tybus. Dirk is the next in line to rule. Jennifer Kezworth is the second child of a servant to Raymond Vors.
Dirk's family has ruled Tybus for uncountable centuries. Raymond Vors is a ruthless emperor who strictly adheres to the traditions of his people. One of these traditions being arranged marriages. His eldest son, Dirk was to marry a female of good bloodlines by the name Nyla. Dirk, wanting to please his sire abides by the tradition and marries the one he's been betrothed to although he does not consider himself to be a traditionalist himself. Unbeknown to his sire, Dirk Vors loathes many of Tybus' traditions, including the one having to do with arranged marriages. He did not love Nyla, nor would he ever come to love her. He would find the woman he has married to be nothing short of one headache after another. Nyla wishing nothing more than to control him and his family. Playing the part of the dutiful husband, Dirk managed to impregnate Nyla, and she gives birth to a daughter whom she names Janice. Taking control of Janice's raising, Nyla begins to raise her daughter just like herself: Selfish, self-centered, self-absorbed, mean, spiteful, hateful, and above all, unable to please.
Jennifer Kezworth is born impoverished to two people who truly love each other. She is the middle child of Keith and Elaine Kezworth: Humble people who serve the inhabitants of the Castle Vors. Jennifer's mother worked in the kitchen while Jennifer's dad worked in the highly prized Garden of the Royals. And that is where she'd meet Dirk.
One day, while Dirk is out riding one of his feleeks (a beast native to Tybus) a beautiful young woman bending over to attend a flower bed catches his eye. Getting off his feleeks, he goes over to speak with her. She is the most beautiful female he's ever seen with hair the most yellow blond he'd ever seen. When she looks at him, her eyes were the brightest of greens. Even in her work clothes that were covered with dried mud, he could tell she had a nice figure. When he speaks to her, she obediently prostrates herself before him. But Dirk wouldn't allow this beautiful woman to do such a thing. The two spark up a relationship from that first meeting in the garden that is strictly forbidden on Tybus. Royals and commoners were not allowed to cohort with each other, and before long, Jennifer finds herself pregnant with Dirk's child. Or worse, yet, his children. The two of them, including Jennifer's family, take great pains to hide the pregnancy from Dirk's family. If Jennifer is discovered, she would be killed outright with no trial right along with her children.
Dirk's actions though have made his wife Nyla suspicious of his activities, and she hires someone to spy on him. On the very day that Jennifer goes into labor, Nyla finds out about of his affair. Nyla goes straight to her husband's sire with the news and demands justice to be served. Raymond Vors is more than outraged by his son's disregard for the rules and sets out to find this commoner's home where his son would be at the time.
With the woman he truly loves, Dirk Vors is at the Kezworth dwelling, wanting to be present for the birth of his daughters. They decided shortly into the pregnancy that they would be keeping both of the girls, breaking another Tybitian tradition that, in the even of twins of the sex, one was to be put to death. This was considered to be part of Meran's population control policy. But their short bout of happiness comes to a sudden, horrifying end. Bursting through the door of the small dwelling Raymond and some of his soldiers enter. Dirk Vors knows instantly what is going on and wonders how his sire found out.
There is no time for Jennifer. She is the initial target and is gunned down with babe in arms as she makes an attempt to flee. And the child she holds is dispatched as well. Dirk Vors, who holds the other child, runs from the room only to be cornered in another. There, right before his sire's eyes, Dirk puts a gun to his head and begins to make a impassionate plea. Threatening to take his own life if they insisted on taking the life of the other child that he and Jennifer conceived together.
Emperor Raymond Vors, known to be a ruthless man to his subjects, sees his son's agony and takes pity on the surviving child. But only under the condition that Dirk Vors never sees this child again, nor takes any part in her upbringing. Dirk agrees under the condition that no harm should befall this child at anytime. Raymond gives his son his word that the child will remain safe from anymore retribution. Before leaving, Dirk hands his daughter to Jennifer's sister Beth and tells her that the child is to be named Jesse Beth. Jennifer wanted to name one of her daughters after her older sister. Beth only nods and Dirks takes his leave of the Kezworth home. The matter is quickly suppressed and Raymond tells Nyla that justice has been served yet refrains from telling her of the still living child. He knows his son's wife too well and knows she'd set out to harm the child against his wishes. That would be breaking the promise he had made to his son. For years after the incident, Dirk refuses to go into the Garden of the Royals as that was where he met and formed his relationship with the woman he loved above all others.
Jesse Beth was raised as Jesse Beth Kezworth by her grandparents and aunt. Jesse was raised as a commoner and worked in the Gardens of the Royals, not knowing the man she was working for was her very own grandpa. She was aware of her mother's death but was told her mother died while giving birth to her. And she was never told of her twin sister until later on in life. Dirk and Nyla have two more children, both boys. But Dirk never forgets the surviving child of his much loved, and much missed Jennifer.
One day, twelve years later, Raymond Vors takes ill and passes away, leaving Dirk the new Emperor of Tybus. Now things would be run by him, a position that Dirk couldn't wait to have. Shortly after being instated as Emperor, Dirk decides to take a look out his window into the precious gardens for the first time since Jennifer's death. What he first sees causes his heart to almost stop. Out attending to one of the beds was a very young girl with the same unusual yellow hair that Jennifer had. When he asks his council members who she is, one answers she's a Kezworth girl. With heart racing from excitement, Dirk immediately sends someone to fetch her.
When brought before the Emperor himself, Jesse immediately prostrates herself before him. And once again, Dirk won't have it. He wants to look upon her face and is struck by her beauty. She was as every bit as striking as her mother was. Dirk wanted to be near to her, so he gives Jesse a castle job being, of all things, a hand servant to his daughter Janice. Janice was the child he truly despised and took delight in knowing that the daughter that was considered 'illegitimate' was actually going to be touching the child that considered herself to be made of better material than even her own sire was.
For almost a year, Jesse serves an ungrateful, hard-to-please Janice along with her mother Nyla. Jesse, detesting the position the whole time, deals with them in a graceful, dignified manner. Persevering through their malcontent ways in a quiet way. During this year, Jesse is taken off of Tybus for the first time. She is going with Vors family, who are going to announce Janice's betrothal to the heir of the Rytronian throne, Jakie Vox. A position coveted by many women, Jesse not being one of them. When Jesse catches glimpse of this heir to the highest position of the Funziee Universe, she knows she's seen him before. Or better yet, has had a run in with him in one of the royal docking bays. That was where she taunted him and he'd taught her a very important lesson a couple of years back. And it would seem the prince of Rytron remembered her too. After the announcement of the betrothal was made, Jakie demands a dance with Jesse, who had been trying to keep a low profile since she'd come into his presence. It could be considered a dance of fate. Jakie is smitten by Jesse, and secretly vows that he is going to have her for his wife. Betrothal or not. Standing afar, Dirk Vors is taking note of the attention the heir to the Rytronian throne is paying his youngest daughter, and is liking what he sees.
Upon returning to Tybus, Dirk Vors calls Jesse to his office. When she arrives she finds the Kezworth family too. Dirk reveals to Jesse her true identity and what really happened to her mother. Jesse is just shy of turning fourteen at this time. The Kezworths confirm his claim, but still no one reveals to her that she had a twin sister. Jesse is a bit taken aback by this revelation but accepts it with humiliation and gratitude. After this information is given, Dirk calls his wife and children in and gives them the news. Both Nyla and Janice are appalled by the news. But Dirk's sons are delighted by this new sibling of theirs. From then on out, Jesse was to be known as Jesse Beth Vors, daughter of the emperor of Tybus, Dirk Vors. And shortly thereafter, she'll come to be known as Jesse Beth Vors-Vox. Wife of Jakie Vox, appointed heir of the Rytronian throne. And that my friends is where the real problems of Jesse's life begins.
And the final player in this saga is also married into the fold. Fernando Patsy Delby isn't what you would call the most upright of characters. In fact, you could say exactly the opposite of her. Fernando's story revolves around rebelliousness, intolerance, deception and temptation. She's the hardest of the women to understand. No one really knows how deep this lady's feelings really run. She starts out on the wrong foot with Chaka. Eventually though, she finds out that she's truly indebted to Chaka and is one person that never forgets a favor. Willingly she puts herself into precarious predicaments to help a friend out. Fernando wants to be a true friend to those she knows, but due to her up bringing, she's at a loss for how to go about it.
And if you think the females are interesting, read about the males that are in their lives.
Character Background:
Youngest child, and only daughter of Niles Delby, the Imperial Majesty of the a agrarian planet Sharzlet, and his wife Toni Tryant.
Niles Delby is the chosen son of Bairin and Deyla Delby, ultimate rulers of Sharzlet. He is the first born of five children. Niles was raised in the strict, enclosed environment of the Sharzlevite royals. No commoner is ever allowed to enter the confines of the castle, and the royal family is sequestered well away from the hard working commoner. This done for fear that the commoner might corrupt the purity of the Sharzlevite royal, which in turn makes the royals an anti-social class of people. The only time the royals leave the castle is to visit the granary or the temple of their god.
Due to traditions that rule the Sharzlevite race, Niles Delby is bound at an early age to an arranged marriage. An arrangement that is made by both his sire and his mother. At the age of twelve, he was officially and legally married to a girl named Toni Tryant. Technically though, the families of the couple would not consider them truly married until both were old enough to consummate the marriage. Toni was only eight years of age when the covenant of marriage was made. She was chosen from a list of females that came from a high standing (and good breeding) social class on Sharzlet. Each female's sire had to submit an appeal to the king and queen as to why their young daughter ought to be chosen as the next queen of Sharzlet. Toni Tryant's parents spoke of an intelligent, out-going, willing to please girl who would definitely be an asset to the royal family. Both Bairin and Deyla liked the sound of such a girl, and both agreed on her. Both parties have to agree on the candidate or a match was not made.
Neither Niles or Toni would see one another until they would be brought together eight years later when Toni was sixteen. In the meantime, still sequestered from the outside world, Niles was being trained and educated in the ways of a Sharzlevite king. All the while, Toni was immersed in the studies of how to be a king's wife. A very important position yet one of pure loneliness. It was a great honor to be chosen to be the wife of the king. Toni didn't see it as such though. She viewed it to be more like a captive position. An institution that would eventually suffocate her in the long run. She too was kept isolated from any outside influences, including her family and childhood friends until after her legal bond to Niles Delby. The only people she was allowed to interact with where those that were hand picked by Bairin. They were the people who would instruct her in the ways of a Sharzlevite queen. Another tradition she held animosity for.
Toni absolutely hated the 'old ways'. Even though she would know no other life, there was a streak of rebelliousness in her. And all the while she learned the protocol of the ruling family, she vowed to herself that her children would not be raised in the traditional way. Unlike she did, her daughter at least, would have a say in who she was going to marry. And this decision would bring a lot of trouble upon Toni.
Finally the day came when Niles and Toni were to meet. All the important delegates and business people of Sharzlet were invited to attend. A large banquet was held in the honor of the uniting of the royal couple. Niles was anxious to meet his bride for the first time. The very female his parents had chosen for him to spend the rest of his days with. Soon though, those feelings of delight would be distinguished. Right at the beginning, there would be friction between the couple. When Toni was brought in to meet her husband, she absolutely refused to wear the customary veil over her face. The veil was to be worn so no one could look upon her face until after the consummation had taken place. But Toni did not want to hide her face from all in the room. She wanted to people to look upon this new prisoner of the royal family. She wanted all in attendance to know her beauty right from the start.
Niles was amused by this act of nonconformity and was willing to let it slide. Right from the start he was stricken by her beauty and forthrightness. Toni found Niles less than appealing and was rather unimpressed by his looks. She was disappointed by who she was going to have to spend the rest of her life with. Without further hesitation, she marched right up to him and told him exactly what she thought of him, how she knew what her duties as his wife were, and how she was willing to mother his offspring because now that was her sole lot in life. But he wasn't to expect much else from her being as she wasn't given any choice in the matter. All who were there were appalled by her outburst but Niles. He found her type of fire to be refreshing.
That night, the marriage was finalized and a few months into the marriage, Toni found herself pregnant. The first child she would give birth to would be the heir of Sharzlet. A boy that Niles named Detriek. By now though, the fledgling relationship between the couple had become stretched and thin. Toni was not in love with Niles, and Niles knew this. It pained him that she would not love him the way he loved her. Openly, out in the eyes of the media, the two played the part of a happily involved, very much in love couple. But behind the walls and doors of the castle, Niles had become intolerant of his wife's distaste form him. The two would quarrel incessantly, and Niles (through his frustration with her) would become abusive. Even going as far as beating Toni into an unconscious state a few times. Her refusal to reciprocate his affections was the direct cause of Niles delving deeper into his religious beliefs. Niles slowly, steadily becoming more and more fanatical in his worship of the God of Bounty, Kukurkaid. Toni remained devoted to her wifely duties and continued to share a bed with her abusive husband, and a couple of years after their first child, Toni comes up pregnant again. She didn't wait to tell Niles and the news seemed to please the new king of Sharzlet. That is, until she asks him if this child turns out to be a girl, if there would be anyway the marital relations between them could stop. That she would have then fulfilled her duty as his wife. Her question promptly infuriates the already unstable king, and he strikes her along side the head and forbids her from ever mentioning the idea again. She was his wife and it was his right to have her in that fashion. Toni never speaks of such a thing but makes another promise to herself that she will take all the necessary steps to insure she will never again, after the child she was carrying now, would she bear another child of Niles Delby.
This time Toni does give birth to a little girl, and Niles names her Fernando Patsy. Right from the start, Toni's wishes conflict with those of her husband's. As soon as Fernando was born, he wanted to find the proper spouse for his daughter as he had already done for his son. Toni found no problem with Niles finding the appropriate bride for his son, though she pities the poor girl for being chosen to endure the same misery as she was living. But when it concerned her daughter Fernando, Toni recalls the vow she made to herself a long time ago that she would make sure that her daughter would have the right to chose her own mate. A vow that she would later on find herself regretting. Niles begins to chose the males, and without fail, Toni rejects each and every one of them. Remember, both the king and queen have to agree upon the individual or there is no match.
Fernando will grow up in the same sequestered society that both her parents were raised in. Niles filling her head with false teachings about other races, trying to teach her the bigotry he felt for the rest of the universe. Toni making an attempt to not to accept just anyone that her sire chose for her as a mate, but chose the man she could spend the rest of her life with and love. Both Fernando and her brother were forced to watch the hate their parents felt for each other because of these differing views. Fernando accepting her mother as her favorite parent. To escape the abusive environment, Fernando submersed herself in reading, studies and painting, all the while she wished to escape the boring walls of her castle home and the unending argument of her parents. She wanted to be away from her fanatical sire and the wrath he displayed towards her much loved mother.
Then, one fateful day, while Fernando and her mother were on an outing into Peppelli, Fernando (who is at the age of 13) becomes enraged with the guards for half smothering her as she tried to shop. Right in the store, Fernando causes a major scene by yelling at those who were sent to protect her, she marches out of the store and right into the life of adventure. For as she pushes open the door, it strikes an alien to her planet, and the man who would later become her husband. This will be the one and only time Fernando's parents will unite on an issue throughout their whole marriage: Their daughter's choice of a husband.
Jakie Randolph Vox
(first name pronounced just like Jackie)    top
Jakie Randolph Vox is the overly protective brother of Chaka Vox, and partners with Jesse Vors. Jakie's an energetic man, with lots of personality. He's very comfortable with himself and not afraid to show others his emotions. He tends to be MORE than a little overbearing at times, having the tendency to push his ideas onto others, while being intolerant of others ideas and opinions. Being the eldest child of the queen of Rytron, Jakie tends to be pompous and self-righteous. The only person that seems to be able to defy Jakie is his sister, Chaka. And that's only because he's got a big soft spot for the sister he protected when they were younger. Otherwise, he's unmoving and contrary towards most others. Including his own powerful mother, and the decisions she makes.
Alban Ray Vox is a cousin to Jakie Vox, and partners to Fernando Delby. Alban is the mysterious sort of male, with a major internal struggle happening. Highly intelligent, this man is a great strategist, but he's not much good in the way of a physical fight. He's extremely sophisticated, which can make him a little arrogant at times. His younger life as a royal was anything but ideal. Years of abuse at the hands of the man that was suppose to be his role model have left an indelible mark on his psyche. Alban tries to live a peaceful life but that's not always possible. A good rule to live by when dealing with Alban: Treat this man with respect and you'll have an ally. But if you make him raging angry, you'll see a side to Alban that you'd never except from this normally mild manner man.
Sylis James Jerkiners
(last name pronounced: Jair-kin-ers)    top
Sylis James Jerkiners is a difficult man to define to say the least. He's intensely complex, extremely serious (most of the time), and highly intelligent. Sylis is a man of many emotions, and yet, he's very calculated. A good man to have by your side in a fight, he's a quick thinker and not easily intimidated. Some say he's a natural born leader and fighter. And gives off the aura of being invincible. His loyalties lie with his family, and he'll do what ever is necessary to ensure their safety. Especially Chaka, his one major weakness. In his mind, there is no other female in the Funziee Universe fit enough to be his bride. Chaka means more to him than even he knows. Their relationship, even though a volatile one at times, makes up part of his strength, and gives him reason to carry on when life looks bleak.
Rufus Lee of Astronyah is partnered with the volatile Rozana. But not by the choice of Rozana. Rufus is commonly referred to by refined females as a, 'sleaze of a man'. He's a power hungry man who sees Rozana as the key to his success, and will do whatever he can to make himself a powerful man in the Universe. Rufus though, is a coward. Which can make him very dangerous. Unlike some who will openly do anything to obtain position and wealth, he's too cowardly to make overt moves in that direction. Most of what he does is underhanded and sneaky. And he's a womanizer. His considerable charms work overtime when trying to get a woman he likes into bed with him. And you could even say this man is a tad misogynistic. He's definitely got a bigoted streak running through him, as do most Astronlings. All have a superiority complex towards other races. Rufus' bigoted streak is especially wide being as he is the first born of the royal couple of Astronyah, and was seriously spoiled as a child. He expects everyone to pay reverence to him, no matter who they are. And finds he doesn't much care for the reality of life aboard the Midnite Star.
Alan Joseph is the name of Su-dio's partner. Alan is a personable, high strung junkie that has a lot of issues that govern his life. Issues that have to deal with self-worth and relationships. And Alan uses drugs to mask the stress of feeling inadequate. Being half-human, Alan was subjected to much bigotry from his full blooded Meltz peers, which is the direct cause of his insecurities. He doesn't understand how anyone could want him (except for another half-Meltz), especially someone of royal status. And procreation is definitely a major issue with him. In his mind, he cannot comprehend why anyone would deem him worthy enough to want to have his child. Some of Alan's actions appear (remove 'to' from here) selfish in nature, when in fact, he's only trying to tune out his past as an outcast.
Keth Grodon
(pronounced: Grow-don)   top
Keth Grodon is not a partner to any of the women in the book, but it's not like he doesn't want to be. Best friend, and biggest ally to Sylis, Keth is another man you'd rather have on your good side. Totally opposite in some respects to Sylis, this man is an asset to have on your side. He's a loyal friend. There was nothing that could happen to make Keth leave his best friend's side. Being friends with the main male character of the story means that this man has a depth to his character that you just don't see in other men in the story. You'll soon learn that this man values friendship and loyalty almost more than family. And you'll soon learn that, sometimes, the friends can make the man.
